Today I ran the Hamamatsu City 10 miler. It is a beautiful south coast city of over 800,000 people about 3 hours by highway. The weather was clear and cool around 50 degrees, perfect for road racing. The course was almost perfectly flat, just right for record setting. After I found my pace (10 minutes), no body passed me. Instead I did the passing, passing dozens of runners. One guy was right on my ass for for the last 4 km, I could hear him breathing, I served him a large portion of REJECTION. Yes, that's him behind me.
My time was 1:02:54. A New Personal Record! One of my New Year's Resolutions is to run a full marathon in under 3 hours...Sub 3 hour marathon...here I come!

I was really thankful for my:
1. High altitude training ( I live at 2,500 ft above sea level and the race was at 65 feet above sea level.)
2. Uphill training (my training run course for this race was about 4 miles uphill, then around the lake and back, total 11 miles, three days a week for five weeks.)
3. Fartlek speed training (twice a week), also lots of karate and snowboarding and dancing in TOKYO! yea!
After free local bacon soup and unlimited sports drink, we made a bee line to the BEACH. There were so many surfers. I wished that I had brought my surfing gear. The waves were glassy chest to head. SO many surfers. Then a nice drive home.

I really should learn to strike a pose better for these race shots!
Unrelated link of the week is here.
